Sony Spotted on GFXBench with Code-name Pikachu

Mobile World Congress 2017 is nearby, which means we are going to see lots of new benchmarking results from different OEM. On that regard, Sony certainly hit the world by uploading benchmark result of one of their upcoming mid-range smartphone code-named “Pikachu”. Sony announced on their blog that they will be having a special event on 27 February where it is expected that they would announce their 5 new smartphones on the event.

Sony Pikachu is running Helio P20 SoC on the core

Sony Pikachu appears to be a mid-range smartphone as the display is marked up to 5 inch and the resolution is at 720p HD. GFXBench reveals that Sony Pikachu will be powered by Octa Core MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 SoC clocked @2.3 GHz coupled with Mali-T880 MP2 dual core GPU. The smartphone comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage out of which only 22 GB will be available for the users. 

In terms of camera, the Pikachu has a 21-megapixel autofocus camera with face detection and a LED flash on the rear along with a 7-megapixel front camera both supporting FHD video mode.

According to the GFXBench, the smartphone is equipped with all the latest connectivity options like NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. Also, the device has a proximity sensor, accelerator and light sensor as well. The smartphone will be launched with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

While there are no words from Sony regarding its announcement and availability at the moment, but rumors says that Sony might announce the “Pikachu” at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Reports also say that Pikachu could be the Sony G3112 that has been the subject of the leak last month.
