The Chinese New Year has just finished and the post of Vice President was empty as Hugo Barra left the company this year around. Barra was the role model for Xiaomi as he uplifted the company from the ground and on his leadership, the company gained a lot of momentum not only in China but all around the world. Soon after his departure, the company decided to elevate its India Head Manu Kumar Jain as the new face of the company.
The company’s Mi India tweeted with an image that Jain will now be Vice President at Xiaomi, along with Managing Director for Xiaomi India. Here’s the tweet from @XiaomiIndia –
@manukumarjain, congratulations from the entire Xiaomi family on your promotion to Vice President of Xiaomi!
India is one of the largest market for Xiaomi and under Jain supervision, Xiaomi India has crossed $1 Billion in revenue last year. Under his leadership, Xiaomi became India’s second largest smartphone vendor in the country with 10.7 percent market share. According to the data from IDC, the company sold 3 Million units of Redmi Note 3S in less than 6 months, which is a huge success as the company was going downfall in the recent times. The company introduced Redmi Note 4, a successor to Redmi Note 3 and Jain expects that the phone will dominate the smartphone market as he expects the company to sell 7 Million units of the handset.
Apart from being the Vice President of the company, Jain will continue to serve as Managing Director of Xiaomi India. With Manu Jain’s elevation, the company is eyeing to expand the growth of the company in India where they have to tackle their space with other Chinese giants for offline marketplaces.
